Project Leader/PI:
Dr Tudor Balinisteanu works at the intersection of several fields within neuroaesthetics and medical humanities, with 4 single author monographs (of which 3 specifically on W. B. Yeats’s poetry) and articles in US, UK, Irish, and Canadian journals in literary studies and social & behavioural sciences.
PhD Student:
Emanuela Motrescu is a PhD student and research assistant in cinematic arts and neuroaesthetics.

Team Leader and Senior Researcher, NTNU:
Lasse Hodne, Professor of History of Art. His expertise in experimental art history includes research on the effects of facial symmetry and gaze direction on perception of social attributes.
Team Leader and Senior Researcher, University of Bergen:
Christer Johansson, Professor of Computational Linguistics. Christer does research in Cognitive Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Psycholinguistics (focusing on language processing). He has built up the Humanities Lab at the department of Linguistics, Literary and Aesthetics Studies, University of Bergen, in collaboration with Per Folgerø. Both are involved in Experimental Aesthetics.
Senior Researcher, University of Bergen:
Per Olav Folgerø is associate professor in neuroaesthetics at the University of Bergen.
Senior Researcher:
Karsten Specht Professor at the Department of Biological and Medical Psychology, University of Bergen, is the head of the Bergen fMRI Group. He studied physics at the RWTH-Aachen, Germany. He worked for several years at the Research Center Jülich, Germany, and completed his PhD degree in Cognitive Neuroscience at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg, Germany, in 2003, and his Habilitation in 2012. Since 2004, he works at the Department of Biological and Medical Psychology at the University of Bergen. In 2007, he received funding from the Bergen Research Foundation to build up his research group. Since then, the ‘Bergen Research Group on Auditory Perception’ (BeRG-AP) is a permanent research node within the Bergen fMRI Group, and he received several follow-up grants from different funding sources. Since 2017, he also holds a Professor II position at the Arctic University of Norway, Tromsø.
Senior Researcher:
Dr Oana GEMAN, Associate Professor at the Human and Health Development Department, University of Suceava with Habilitation in Electronics, Telecommunication and Information Technologies. Her expertise includes: non-invasive measurements of biomedical signals (EEG, ECG, HR etc.), wireless sensors, signal processing, processing information and Biomedical Applications.
PhD Student:
Diana Izdrui is a PhD student and research assistant in applied electronics and neuroaesthetics.
Postdoctoral Researcher:
Jin Xu is a postdoctoral researcher at the School of Computer Science at University College Dublin. His research interests lie broadly in Advanced DSP, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. His research in the areas of EEG processing to support BCI (Brain–Computer Interface) applications and trustworthy recommender systems. His ideal career goal is to establish an AI Healthcare Lab processing human biological data and developing intelligent recommender systems to pioneer personalised solutions for the enhancement of human health.
