The research carried out in our lab in the discipline of medical humanities pioneers this highly important research field in Romania, where it has not yet been established in any form of structured research and teaching.
The medical humanities research carried out in the lab, rooted in a collaboration with King’s College London, asks whether art that engenders awareness of one’s embodied life is healthier than art that fosters statuary ideals. Some of our research so far argues that sacrificing mindfulness of one’s own embodied life in favor of spiritual purpose can become unhealthy and that poetry and dance can help establish a balance between purpose-in-life and affective empathy.
